Someone Is Challenging My Amazon Commissions!

14 February 2011 ~ 15 Comments

Just got a friendly invite for a competition of Amazon commissions from another Internet marketer. His name is Richard and his invitation was from a comment he wrote in my Amazon January earnings post. He then blogged about the challenge in his blog which you can find by clicking here.

I see that he didn’t leave me any options so I accepted the challenge and I’m really excited about it. hehehe. I’m sure that this challenge will make us more focused and motivated to work on our Amazon campaigns. Take note that he’s from the UK so his commissions are going to be much higher than US dollars. His earnings for January are over 70 pounds (that’s around $118!) which totally beats my $79! hehehe. I think we should set some handicap here! hahaha

Anyway, all I can say is… let’s bring it on! hehehe. Good luck to both of us!

How about you? Do you want to join in this friendly challenge? Who are you rooting for? hehehe

    Hi Ray

Looks like we are in competition then. Should be fun.

You will have noticed from my blog though that you have a very good lead for February at the moment, but as you say, this competition could make us both more focussed and it is early days yet.

    Talk again soon.

Now I’m considering if I just continue on sharing my Amazon commissions for the entire 2011. I mentioned in my January earnings post, that I will stop posting my Amazon comish when I reach the $500-month mark. hehehe. Anyway, let’s see where the wind will take us.

    Hi Raymond,

When you said that you do affiliate marketing of physical products with Amazon, what do you mean by physical products?

I hope you don`t mind me asking since i`m really new in IM.

Is it digital or electronic items?

Hope to hear from you soon.

Many thanks for the informative site you`ve got. I`m pleased to have found your site.

    Kind regards

Physical products are those that are tangible (television, strollers, speakers, cookware, basically anything you can touch. hehehe) while digital or information products are mostly ebooks and software. Promoting either physical or information products have their own pros and cons. Physical products usually have low commissions while ebooks and software pay up to 75% as they don’t require too much overhead.

How could we know that the one challenging you is not your partner and just making this story up? How we could also know that you’re just a user of all the online company like wealthy affiliate and you are not their partner and just promoting them so you could also gain from us. Please tell us. I know, because my boyfriend is one like you.

      Hi Phoebe,

I guess you won’t really know for sure. One thing that I do know is that I’m not going to waste my time in convincing someone to believe me or what affiliate marketing does. It’s totally cool if you go somewhere else. Sorry. hehehe :)

“One thing that I do know is that I’m not going to waste my time in convincing someone to believe me”. Why would someone waste time if not to profit from it. I’m sorry too but I’ll respect it if this is the way you get your income. And if this will really help others too why don’t you try to coach them right here from your site without paying for wealthy affiliate schemes. Just a thought. :)

In my sidebar, you’ll find a link where I give away a free guide that will teach you how I made my first sale online and you’ll also get some good tips on the basics of affiliate marketing. I don’t pressure people to join WA and it’s totally up to the individual if they want to join or not. In my case, WA helped me tremendously and I believe that they are the BEST training when it comes to Internet marketing. Enough said.

How come your link for the free guide has the same link with Kyle and Carlson? I’m sure that is Pay Per Click.

          Hi Phoebe
Re your comment “Why would someone waste time if not to profit from it. I’m sorry too but I’ll respect it if this is the way you get your income”, we are just having some fun.
Whilst we are in affiliate marketing to make some money, it isn’t all about making money.
I have a number of websites that I am trying to earn an affiliate income from, but I also have my amazonaffiliateprofits.co.uk and my own personal blog – neither of which are likely to earn me any money, but they give me a hobby and are really no different to posting things on facebook – no doubt you have a facebook account which you spend time reading and posting on without any attempt to make money from it.
          Cheers
          Richard

    Hello Raymond,

I would like to enter a competition with you in Amazon affiliate marketing, i have only two sites :) on headphones, almost dominating the first page of google yahoo bing with search terms “amazon headphone reviews” “best amazon headphone reviews” “top best amazon headphone reviews”

    • Raymond Selda 5 March 2011 at 11:22 am Permalink

Sure! Anyone can join. :) What do you think Richard? :)

Hi Ray, Hussein, and anyone else who is interested,

I would welcome anyone who wants to join our friendly competition. Remember it is just that – a friendly competition. There are no prizes. It is just a bit of fun.
We haven’t really set any rules as such but I think the competition runs each month to see who can earn the most affiliate commission from Amazon within that month. In my case, my focus is on Amazon.co.uk, and Ray is focussed on Amazon.com, so we need to take a currency conversion into account when working out who won.
The only rule I think we should have is that each entrant should be reasonably new to affiliate marketing – both Ray and myself have been involved for less than a year – and you need to publish your Amazon income somewhere at the end of each month. In my case I do a bit of analysis of my results and publish this on my amazonaffiliateprofits.co.uk website, but you don’t have to go to any level of detail.
        Cheers
        Richard
