My Amazon Monthly Earnings For March

02 April 2011 ~ 16 Comments

March came to a close and I’m really happy with my Amazon earnings so far because I’ve been seeing an upward trend since January 2011.

March 2011 Amazon Earnings – $237.62

January 2011$79.54

February 2011$154.47

March 2011 – $237.62

When I look at the items that I’ve sold this March, I’ve noticed that I still got commissions from the same products. I could have earned more sales if Google wasn’t slapping some of my websites. A couple of tips to avoid some slapping is to add unique content (for starters I add in 5 posts) and put on some transparency pages (about us, contact us, privacy policy and affiliate disclaimer). If you want to know more about transparency pages then I’ve included a link below to a blog post that will help you out.

I’ve built a couple of new Amazon sites last March but they’re not getting sales yet. Now I’ve learned to be more patient with my campaigns and giving each of them a deadline of 2-4 months before they start making sales. I know that time frame is longer for most people but this is for campaigns that require a bit of an effort to rank at top. I will still continue to build sites that can rank in a few weeks but this will be for specific product name sites where I can get the exact match keyword domain.

The goal is to keep on working on my Amazon campaigns until they’re earning more than my Clickbank campaigns. Making money online is only a numbers game… if you could build a site that generates $100-$250 per month then how many would you build to reach your desired monthly income?

Need to Improve My Conversion Rates

Amazon is a major brand online and they’re known to have great conversions. Usually I’m happy with a 1% conversion but I’ve seen marketers who are experiencing 5%-10%. Currently I have over 3% but do you remember Richard? Well, he’s averaging over 9% conversion rate! hahaha. Click here for Richard’s March earnings in Amazon. Even though I won again this month, I still have a lot of work to do when it comes to my conversion rates. Just keep on moving forward Richard and remember that every action you take is a success. I won’t be surprised if you’ll kick my butt next month! hahaha

    Hi Ray
The interesting difference between your sites and mine is that your average sale is around US$100 and my average Amazon sale is only £30 (about US$48) which could be why I have a better conversion rate than you. That said, 9% is pretty exceptional and I don’t expect to do that every month.
Great to see you doing so well. Our friendly competition is keeping me motivated and rest assured, I will be trying to beat you in April!
    Cheers
    Richard

    Hello Raymond,

How long does it take you to build one site? And do you do link building on a daily basis on ALL your sites?

Back then I would devote 2-4 weeks in a single campaign or website. This involved creating content and marketing the site through article submissions. Now it takes less time as I outsource article writing and I use some linkbuilding services to build links.

Just an observation, don’t you think that creating these sites to earn money via affiliate advertising is just blocking up (or rather stiffling) the web with sites that we don’t really want or need. also good domain names are now almost impossible to find and these problems are only going to get worse as more and more people get into affiliate advertising programs just to make a few bucks…..Don’t get me wrong I’m all in favour of making a bit of money where ever I can but I’m also interested in the quality of content on web.

    Hey Raymond,

You say you outsource your article writing and use link building sites to build links for you, would it be possible to share those sites? I have built my site and I require back links but I don’t know where to get them from.

One of the article syndication services that I use is ArticleRanks.com. Make sure that you know how to do proper keyword research because these tools are useless if you don’t know how to research your keywords.

    Hi,

I just wanna ask if you’re receiving checks or do you have your amazon account set up for direct deposit to your philippine bank account… I’m building my first site promoting amazon products, but I want to have the earnings deposited directly to a bank account. Hope you could help me out.

I’m set out to receive checks and hopefully my first check will be delivered after this month. I haven’t considered the direct deposit option but I believe you can find an answer in their help pages inside your affiliate account. Or you can just email them directly to get answers specifically to your question, then share your findings here. hehehe.

    Hi Raymond.
Am just curious, for the amount of income you get, I would like to have an idea of the amount of work you have to put.
    - How many unique websites do you have?
    - Does this number of unique websites relate to only one Amazon product each?
    - How many posts or pages do you have to create for each of those sites? And if you update them periodically, how frequent do you have to post an article or page?

Great site you have here and good on you that you share your know-how and experience to the world!

I lost count of how many sites I built but I believe I’m still in the learning stages. I’m just throwing spaghetti on the wall and see which ones would stick. When I started I only built one site for one specific product. But now I try to build a site around a certain category so I can write many posts targeting many different products.

My advice is to write 5 UNIQUE and HELPFUL review articles (500 words each). You want to rank for review type keywords because visitors who are searching for review keywords are ready to buy. I immediately publish the review article and schedule the others to be published every week.

Then you look for other long tail keywords that are related to your product and write articles so you can submit them to article directories like Ezinearticles.com or ArticlesBase.com. These articles will hopefully drive more traffic but they are also used as backlinks to your money site so you can rise on top of search rankings.

Remember to always put unique articles in your site and write a different one to be submitted to article directories or any site that accepts links. This is how I started and right now I just hire someone to do all the writing and pay for tools to do the linkbuilding. Take note that you can also apply this method not only for physical products but for other niches as well.

Hi Raymond. Are you only monetizing this blog with Amazon? I’m curious about your other income on affiliate marketing. :) You must have been receiving a lot of traffic to earn that amount of Amazon income. I never had Amazon in my mind for monetizing my blog. But I think I will consider experimenting it. How about clickbank?

    • Raymond Selda 29 April 2011 at 8:44 pm Permalink

I don’t promote any Amazon products here in my blog. The audience that I’m getting is mainly interested with information regarding Internet marketing and I believe that Amazon products is not going to be a good model to implement here. I mainly use Clickbank.
