I Think I Have A New Friend

30 July 2011 ~ 11 Comments

When I started out with making money online back in July 2009, I was first introduced to Squidoo.com. To those who are not familiar, Squidoo.com is a website that you can use to write your content in. Different people use this for different purposes but Squidoo is mainly use by many to make some money online. If you’re just getting started this could be a great way for you to get your feet wet.

Unfortunately, I was one of those people who didn’t get any shadow of success in using Squidoo. It was really difficult to get a Squidoo page (they call this a LENS) indexed in the search engines. But still I believe that using Squidoo set me up to become comfortable in writing articles.

Just recently I saw a post by Tracey Edwards where she shared her simple technique of using Hubpages to promote Amazon products. I loved the simplicity of this strategy because this will allow you to test the conversions of a certain product. I mainly build new websites to promote Amazon products and honestly I’m not that 100% sure if they’re going to be successful but I’m very grateful that many of the sites I built have produced some really nice passive income.

Well this morning I published a hub page that promotes an Amazon product. I was surprised when I discovered that the hub page is already indexed (less than 12 hours) and is already ranking in the 2nd page for its product name keywords! The awesome thing is that I haven’t built any backlinks yet to that page. I’ve only experienced this powerful indexing and ranking stuff when I get my articles published over at Ezinearticles.com which I’m not using anymore. hahaha!

So right now I’m totally in love with Hubpages.com!

I believe the key to making this work is that you have to find something that has little to no search engine competition. The product that I’ve found has just been release a couple of months ago and there are still a few affiliates that are promoting it. Also try to choose a product that has a potential of getting noticed by their audience. For example in the product that I’ve promoted there were already 10 detailed product reviews from passionate consumers.

I’m comfortable in building my own websites but it can also be a good strategy to test products first before building a website for that product. And you test products by putting out content and getting them to rank quickly in the search engines. This can also be a really good way to get in front of trend traffic and get some easy sales.

I’m planning to write a free little manual that will contain some more details on how I approach this and so make sure you’re subscribed to my mailing list. Although it will take a few weeks before I know what really works and what doesn’t. That’s it for now. I suggest that you go over to Hubpages.com (or even Squidoo.com) and publish your first content then follow it by building some backlinks. If there’s any questions then please feel free to ask and I’ll do my best to answer them.

Hi Raymond, thanks so much for the linky love!

Yes hubpages are a great way to test which Amazon products convert. They were hit with the Panda update, but lately with the move to subdomains they seem to be gaining rankings again.

    Good luck!

    Tracey :)

Hello Raymond, thanks for this valuable info, in fact i used this method in Squido and it’s ranking into page 1 in Google for a low competition Keyword, and gave a boost to my site when back linked to my site form it with appropriate Anchor text. Also when commenting on other Squidoo pages with (high score) and pointing to your site with Anchor text back links it boosts your site ranking too and of course provide a traffic source. Most back link strategies are using WEB 2.0 back links are they are seen from Google as authority sites and they have high page rank. Sometimes they are more effective than .Gov or .Edu “nofollow” comments backlinks with Anchor Text.

Waiting for the report my Friend and thanks for the Last video sent by mail :)

      Hi Hussein,

Thanks for dropping by and adding in your thoughts. I’m glad you’re having awesome results with using Web 2.0 properties for top rankings. I also appreciate that you’ve shared your commenting strategy within Squidoo.

Honestly I don’t really incorporate Web 2.0 in my overall linkbuilding especially the linkwheel stuff. I’m not saying that they are not effective. It’s just that I’ve been able to achieve top rankings without using them. But I make sure that I have some .edu links in my link profile but I believe they’re not from comments. Usually I just outsource my .edu links to someone over at Fiverr.com.

    Hi Raymond,

Unlike those guys that can’t move on in the “rehashing make money online guides content” industry, each and every content you release are bombs. And I mean that in a seriously good way. I wouldn’t have thought of this idea myself in give or take two years. Hey Tracey, if you’re reading this, I would like to thank you too for sharing your strategy.

Now I’m seriously considering wearing my game face on at Amazon using Hub Pages.

Damn Ray, your blog should be nominated or something. This is serious shiznat. Really really really looking forward to that manual.

Numerous marketers have suggested in their blogposts recently that Squidoo is a waste of time for affiliates with many having their lenses arbitrarily deleted. Fortunately I’ve never used Squidoo so missed those problems but I totally agree with using hubpages.

    Hi Raymond,

Thank you for sharing your CWS reviews, I wish to start now. However, I’m a dead broke person since birth, I don’t have credit card or any type of express payment cards etc., how I can purchase the CWS startup course program so I can start right away. Is it possible to pay via Western Union?

    Ray –

just trying to get up to speed with every one else

Please set me straight on any of this that I might be incorrect about

So your take on this . . .is to create a “Hub Page” as a quick & easy way to make a “web site” with out making a “website”?

I’ve read endlessly that WordPress is the end all be all to making web sites

While I’m not refuting that . .simply just I do not know that to be factual ( open to feed back about that)

So is the thinking to create the HP and if it gets enough traffic / sales / positive responses . . .then turn it into a WordPress site?

    Or

    Have both?

Would you consider a HP a tester site?
Or a HP as a “good to go”/ “good enough site” no matter what? “site”

My main focus is to create sites for Amazon physical goods
I have no experience with WordPress . . .some what handy with Blogger. However feel that Blogger is limiting. Maybe it’s my skill set / knowledge base

It would be my preference not to spend weeks learning the web site building scenario

I’m not very technical and would like something that is effective, simple and fast

    Am I being unrealistic?

Am not trying to avoid “work” per se I’m just trying to approach this in a smart & time effective way

I’m looking at this as if my mission is to dig a hole
(read: make web site) and in doing so I get paid

Now given the choice do I dig with a spoon a shovel or a back hoe?

    Your thoughts?
    THX – Skye

For me, Hubpages is something that is used for testing purposes only. Building your own sites is still the best way to thrive in this IM business. Would you really sacrifice a few weeks of website building, even though it’s really easy with WP, for something that will give you the ultimate financial freedom? Think about that.

    Hi Raymond!

I have now 3 niches in mind and am ready to try this out. Should I stick to 1 article per niche or should I create 10 articles for each niche?

I have an issue with creating 10 articles for a niche. Let’s say you’re into the “lose weight in 20 days”. Are there enough content to be written about that topic for you to even make 5 articles?

Also, is there an advantage in using your own domain vs a WP site? Can you link your WP site on your article and when viewers click on your site, they’ll get redirected to your affiliate link?

    Thanks and More Power Raymond!

First, focus on only one niche. The topics are ENDLESS that could be written for most of the niches, you just have to find the angle. There is definitely a huge advantage to building your own websites. You don’t need any domain forwarding because your affiliate links are inside the pages in your websites. Just look around my blog and you’ll see a good example of what I’m talking about.
